Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – What to know

Are you ready to be full immersed? Today I was lucky enough to visit the the NEW LAND – GALAXY’S EDGE! Let me tell you it was pretty amazing! BRAVO DISNEY!

Here are some quick tips to know before you go so that you can make the most of your time on your visit to Batuu.

Tip #1 – Know the language

As soon as you step into the land of Batuu you will be greeted with some fun new terms. Here are a few to know.

  • Bright Suns – Hello/Welcome
  • Suns Up – Hello/Welcome
  • Rising Moons – Nighttime Hello
  • Good Journey – Farewell
  • Credits – Money
  • Data pad – Cell Phone
  • Refresher – Restroom
  • Hydrator – Water Fountain
  • Youngling – Child
  • Til the Spire – Until Next Time – Farewell
  • Guest are referred to as travelers and off worlders

Tip #2 – Where to head first

Oga’s Cantina & the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (depends which is priority for you) In my opinion if you are wanting to have a Cocktail at the Cantina definitely head there first. The lines will get long. If you’re wanting to do Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and you do not care about the Cantina then head there first.

Tip #3 – Bring your patience

It’s a new land and just like anything new Disney still has to work out some of the kinks. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run may go down for a bit due to technical difficulties. Foods may run out. For example today I tried to order two different drinks and unfortunately they ran out of some ingredients. Lines will be long and it will most likely be crowded so bring that patience with you 🙂

Tip #4 – Bring a hat and dress comfy

There is not too much shade in the new land unless you are at the shops. Also if you are in line for Oga’s Cantina you will be directly in the sun. There is no shade and you will most likely be in line for a minimum of 45 min to an hour.

FAQ

Do you think 4 hours is enough to see and do everything?

Yes 100%! Four hours is enough time in the land. I walked around and saw everything in one hour. The rest of your time will be spent waiting in line for either Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, the Cantina, shopping (which will not take much time unless your building a droid or light saber) and eating.

Blue Milk what does it taste like?

img_7157

It tastes like a blueberry flavored sweettarts candy in my opinion. The consistency is a creamy freeze type drink. The Milk Stand is a quick service so lines will not be long at all for this. It goes by fairly quickly so no need to head there first. There is also a green milk that has a more refreshing taste to it.

Tell me more about Oga’s Cantina?

Oga’s Cantina is very cool. It looks just like the concept art released by Disney. There are 8 booths, some standing tables and the bar area. Two new mugs will be released as I mentioned on my Instagram post. An awesome Endor Mug $42.00 and a Porg Mug $32.00. Now for my opinion on the drinks. Its a (2) drink maximum when you visit. You can only be inside for a maximum of 45 minutes. I tried two different drinks the Jedi Mind Trick and the Yub Nub. The Yub Nub is the drink that comes with the Endor Mug. Its a drink with Malibu Pineapple Rum, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Citrus Juices, and Passion Fruit. You all know I love a good cocktail so here goes my honest opinion. Neither drink was particularly boozy. It could have been my bar tender, it could be because Disney doesn’t want people getting drunk at Disneyland. I don’t know the reason but I wasn’t impressed. I asked the couple next to me and they agreed as well. So it definitely wasn’t just me. I’d rather head to Trader Sam’s, Lamplight or Carthay for a cocktail. I’ll give it another go next visit and let you know if its changed.  It is likely that the drinks are on the lighter side due to the need to consume at least two beverages in a relatively short period of time. Overall it’s still a fun experience.

What are the cost of drinks?

The same as any other Disney cocktails $15 and up

How long was the wait for Oga’s Cantina?

45 minutes to an hour. They cut the line off to stand since there is not enough room to wait around.

Can you buy the coasters you posted today?

No you cannot. You do have to go inside the Cantina and place an order to get one.

Where can I build a light saber?

Location – Savis workshop

Will they have entertainment?

It may change in the future however at this time they have a showing of Kylo Ren. They also have some Storm Troopers walking around.

How early should I get there?

I would say be in line for Galaxy’s Edge at least an hour prior to your entry time into the land.

Merchandise?

It’s all the merchandise that Disney Parks Blog has shared. I didn’t see anything new or different than what has been posted. There are pins, toys, clothing, backpacks, wallets, spray misting fans, light sabers, droids, and some jewelry which was my favorite.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Merchandise – Artisan-Style Toys
The Toydarian Toymaker stall in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will feature an assortment of artisan-style plush characters, wood and tin toys and musical instruments. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens May 31, 2019, at Disneyland Resort in California and Aug. 29, 2019, at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. (David Roark/Disney Parks)

There are also new BB8 and R2D2 ears. The ears remind me of the Minnie Mousekeeter ears pictured below. Instead of the Mousekeeter ears hat its a little BB8 & R2D2 on top.
